For the last month every Wednesday we've been heading down to Almonte for a textile class for Ella. It's organized by the homeschool group in Ottawa. Ella's been having a great time. Last week they dyed some yarn.
I really like the way Ella's yarn turned out, very spring-like. The girls used Kool Aid. Ella's really flushed in this picture because she'd been running around with the other kids like a wild thing. I think this is what I love best about homeschooling. The other kids just enfold Ella into the group (even though she's new) . When Ella tries to play with public school kids they look at her like she has 3 heads and then walk off being bitchy and talking about her. I get tired of trying to explain their behaviour to Ella. She takes it so to heart.
Almonte is a pretty little town along the Mississippi River. Ella's class takes place in the beautiful old town hall.
So this week after class, we decided to play 'tourist'.
They have a great walk way along the river. Ella was amazed at the rushing water. I get really nervous in these situations. The rushing water makes me feel dizzy and very unsafe.
Almonte actually has a power generation station. With this powerful of a river, it's a good idea. Ella was surprised how much colder it felt down here by the rushing water.
Almonte is also the home town of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball. They have this cool bronze hanging out downtown.
