And So It Begins...

Last night Ella and Daddy got out the new seeds and all bits and pieces needed to start seeds.  Last year Daddy let Ella help (at the end and just to humour her) and realized that her little fingers were actually very good at planting the tiny tomato seeds.  This year, Daddy did the sorting and Ella did all the planting.  I think they planted about half of the tomatoes.  We have 4 or 5 different kinds (mostly heirloom) of tomatoes this year.  If you knew how much Colin hates tomatoes, you'd know how funny that is.  But our market garden customers love our selection. I like having a variety to choose from too.

We have a grow light set up in the cellar since that is the warmest place in the house.  After the seedlings get started they move over to Colin's mom's kitchen.  She has the perfect kitchen for starting seeds.  She'll babysit the plants until it's warm enough to put them in the greenhouse.  Our greenhouse is nice and warm during the day right now, but still goes past freezing overnight.

We'll have lots more to plant in the coming weeks and months.
