Happy News

Ella is doing so much better today.  Thank you for all the prayers.  She has not done much coughing at all and when she does cough, it doesn't sound like she's coughing up a lung.  We even did some Christmas baking.

Ella loves our Christmas Elf.  She is amazed at all the places she finds 'Merry'.  I try to remember to move her to a different place every evening.  I love this picture of my goofy girl.

For the first time in likely 30 years, I got my Christmas tree from a tree lot!  I found out, from a homeschool friend, that the local vegetable stand/store had fir trees in this year.  Colin and I went and got it on Sunday.  Turns out it wasn't as tall or full as we thought.  We usually like to get closer to the ceiling  :)  But I think it looks pretty good.  I saved a few ornaments for Ella.  She still needs to work on placement  :)  It's going to be a long week until Christmas.  It's driving her crazy to have those presents under there -she doesn't even know they are hers!!  I don't know if you can see, but just to the left of the purple gift bag is our grey striped cat Figaro.  As soon as we get the tree up (even while still dripping), Figaro moves in for the Christmas season.  I don't mind.  She doesn't play with decorations or drink the water.  The worst she does is leave a large hairy spot on the tree skirt  :)

When we got cats ('95 when I finished school) we had to do away with the tinsel. Now we use 'glass' beads, they really sparkle with the lights. I really like the new LED lights, so much brighter. The only problem with the angel is it isn't lit. You have to strategically place the lights or she sits in the dark.

I love your tree and your garland, too! Very pretty and old fashioned looking tree. We haven't had a real tree in years!
Yes, it will be a very long week for little Ella, for sure!

Our angel isn't lit either, she came from Bath and Body Works back in the late 90's when they had the country theme going on still, her skirt is "Warm & Natural" batting. We are just lucky that she's white, so we stuff some lights up under her and that gives her a little light. I love sparkly things on the trees, I bet your beads do look so pretty when the lights are on. Tomorrow I'm having a shopping day- the kiddies are going to the inlaws for the day...

I love old fashioned decorations. A lot of mine were my Grandma's. I don't understand the folks that do a different 'theme tree' every year. I like memories on mine. Like the pregnant teddy one Colin bought me the Christmas we were expecting Ella. Or the little angel my great great Aunt made for my Mom when she was a girl.
