My Grandma and Grandpa

Today would be my Grandma and Grandpa's 63rd wedding anniversary.  Grandpa was 26 and freshly home from the war overseas.  He was injured while driving an ambulance ('friendly fire' bombs) but recovered well.  Grandma was a 16 year old school girl (would turn 17 that July).  They lived a long and happy life together.  Raised 5 kids in the smallest house, I don't know how they did it.  They have 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, though Grandpa didn't get to meet his last grandchild and none of the great-grandchildren.  We lost Grandpa September 1991 (just as I was starting university).  His passing left a giant whole in our lives.  Grandma's never been the same -how do you move on after losing the only man you've loved.   I miss him so much, he was more a Dad to me than my father ever was.  I was just glad Grandpa lived long enough to see my Mom get the strength to leave Dad and stop the abuse.  I would give anything to have Grandpa here to know my Ella.  He would have loved her so much and would have been so happy with the life I have now.

You may not "see" him, but I think Grandpa is there with Ella and knows you happy your life is now! :)
